Today (Monday) Year 12 arrived safely in Mai Chau at lunchtime. We are looking forward to our week of service work for the CAS element of the IB course. This afternoon consisted of a beautiful bicycle ride through lush rice paddy fields, followed by building and then racing bamboo rafts on a small lake.

As I am sure you are aware British International School Hanoi has been a member of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) since October 2015. FOBISIA is a federation made up of 55 prestigious British type schools from all over Asia. As Simon Weston the FOBISIA Chair states:

British International School Hanoi Lionhearts performed beyond all expectations today, demonstrating exceptional performances both in Athletics and Swimming. The team arrived fueled and ready to perform – motivation and ambition was high with all students setting themselves goals for the day ahead

The British International School Hanoi Golf team arrived safely at the amazing Angsana Golf resort in Phuket. We were warmly greeted at the airport by our hosts from the British International School Phuket.

Service projects can be local or international. They can range from small scale action groups working at a micro level to collaborative groups involving multinational agencies that ambitiously strive to solve problems on a global scale. British International School Hanoi is home to a full range of service projects as the following examples illustrate.

The Year 2 children were amazing today as they joined together to perform a Talk for Writing version of the book, ‘Where the Wild Things Are’. Our Year 6 students were present to report on the assembly and here’s what they thought:

Last week the British International School Hanoi hosted ten universities from the Colleges that Change Lives Tour. Throughout the week we also hosted individual schools from the US and the UK.  On Friday we had a large fair of 17 schools with 10 being from Australia and 7 from the US. It was a great opportunity for students to see two very different systems.

I often ask myself the question, “What do LeBron James, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Yuri Gagarin have in common?” The simple answer to that complicated thought is that each one of them, if they had been at British International School Hanoi during the last 24 hours, would have been simply amazed by what they saw.

This term, the students in Year 3 have run a wonderfully successful Young Enterprise topic all in aid of one of British International School Hanoi community partners, Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary

Today, our young entrepreneurs in Year 3 really made us proud. For a number of weeks, they have been involved in a real project with a serious motive: to raise money for Tam Dao Bear Sanctuary. In presentations delivered this morning to parents, the children explained the process they had gone through.

The British International School Hanoi Marketing and Admissions team have had a great time this week visiting lessons throughout our Secondary school.
