Week 15, Term 1, 2025/2026
I hope everyone has had a good week. It has been another busy one here at BSKL, and the highlight was certainly our Year 3 Sports Day. It was wonderful to see so many parents there supporting the children.

A reminder that we have another fantastic community event next Thursday with our Christmas Bazaar and Christmas Concert, I look forward to seeing many of you there. The cute factor will also be out in full force next week as our EYFS children perform their very own version of the Nativity.

As we look ahead to the final two weeks of term, we have a wonderfully full calendar of events, including the CCA Showcase, the end-of-term assembly, the AIMS U9 Mini Basketball League, the inter-school chess tournament, the BSKL Young Author Award and, of course, our ever-popular Book Fair.

This week, I am handing the baton over to Mr Antcliffe, who will be reflecting on our CCA provision.

As Term 1 CCAs draw to a close next Friday, it gives us the perfect opportunity to reflect on one of the most distinctive strengths of our school: our enrichment programme. At BSKL, academic rigour is a given, and we take immense pride in the progress and attainment of our students - something you will read more about when the reports are published in the final week of term. Yet what truly elevates the children’s learning, and their school experience, is the wealth of opportunities they have each week to explore, create, question and grow beyond their usual classroom lessons.

For us, enrichment is more than the 150 weekly CCAs we offer. It encompasses the fun, meaningful learning experiences that take place across the Primary School each week - from Year 6 Ancient Greek Day to community events such as Pink Day (thank you again for organising this, Mrs Stringer). Our extensive enrichment programme is carefully designed to help every child develop both their passions and their potential.

These activities give students the freedom to explore interests, discover new talents and build essential life skills, supporting the holistic development we value so highly. Trying new experiences encourages children to take healthy risks and uncover capabilities they may not have realised they had. We often see our quieter learners shine when they find an activity that resonates with them - be it collaborating on artwork, performing for an audience or developing a completely new skill. These moments of success nurture confidence that carries over into every area of their learning.

As a proudly multicultural community, we treasure the diverse talents and cultural perspectives our students bring. Enrichment provides a platform for children to share their strengths, learn from one another and celebrate diversity in authentic, tangible ways. Activities such as charity collections, cultural crafts and leadership projects enrich not only individual students but also our school culture as a whole.

Enrichment is also where friendships flourish and connections deepen. Older students naturally mentor younger ones; collaborations grow across year groups and a strong sense of belonging emerges. It is heartening to see our students develop empathy, leadership and respect through these shared experiences - helping us create a culture of happiness and build a joyful, supportive school community.

Thank you for supporting your child’s participation in the additional opportunities we provide; your encouragement plays a vital role in both the children’s personal growth and the continued success of our enrichment programme.

Have a wonderful weekend,
