Dear Families
A very warm welcome back and I trust you had a great holiday and managed to spend lots of time with your family and friends celebrating the 80th anniversary of Vietnam's Independence. A reminder that we had some wonderful assemblies last week celebrating this momentous occasion:

I would like to thank all our families and students for your incredible support and flexibility over the past few weeks as we managed some very challenging situations. Once again, I was proud of how the BVIS community came together. I know you will join me in thanking all the staff who went to extreme lengths to keep the school open or to provide high quality virtual learning experiences where necessary. As a thank you to the students, on Friday, we arranged for some special treats for them:

Last year we hosted our very first primary school Grandparent's Day. Following the huge success of last year, I am pleased to say we will be running the event again. Please see details below:

• 11th Sept from 14.30-16.00: Pre A-Level Options Information Session, please register HERE
I wish you all a very realaxing weekend ahead.

On Thursday I welcomed parents to a coffee morning where I outlined our approach to creating a nurturing atmosphere.
I talked about the importance of a warm and inviting environment in primary education.
The benefits:
• Supports emotional well-being
• Enhances focus and collaboration
• Promotes positive relationships

We are enhancing our school environment with more living plants around the school and a new canteen.

How a nurturing environment benefits children
Development: • A comforting atmosphere helps children feel secure, fostering their emotional and social growth. This security encourages risk-taking in learning and exploration.
Collaboration: • When children feel relaxed and valued, they are more likely to engage in cooperative learning activities. This collaborative spirit nurtures teamwork and communication skills.
Learning: • An uplifting environment stimulates curiosity and concentration, leading to improved academic outcomes. Children are more inclined to participate actively, ask questions, and engage deeply with their learning.

Our approach to behaviour management emphasizes community and cooperation.
Our three rules foster a supportive environment rather than a top-down authority model.
Our behaviour management philosophy encourages children to act for the right reasons and moves away from fear-based discipline.

I advised parents to use restorative chats to resolve conflicts and to model respectful and caring interactions at home.

Our home learning strategy:
• Clarity on expectations for children
• Consistency in feedback from all teachers
• The importance of collaboration between home and school for student success.

Independance Day Assembly
Last Thursday, the Vietnamese Department organised a fantastic assembly to mark Independance Day. It was a wonderful event with song and dance to mark this very special event.
Global Campus user of the Month
Congratulations to Nguyen Hai Son Luong in 7I, who is the first Global Campus User of the Month for 2025! Important Reminder – Residential Parents Meeting
On Monday 8th September from 4.30 - 5.30pm we will be hosting meetings about residential trips. We will gather in the Auditorium at 4.30pm for an introduction and then breakout into separate meetings for each trip.
The final deadline to sign up and pay for the trips is Tuesday 9th September.
Computer Science
Ms Zerrin is excited to announce the appointment of the new Student Ambassadors for IGCSE Computer Science: Nhat Minh and Thao Vy! Both students have shown exceptional dedication and enthusiasm for the subject, and we are confident that they will inspire their peers and contribute positively to our school community.
Meet Nhat Minh
Hi everyone, I’m Nhat Minh, an IGCSE Computer Science student. Here are my perspectives on the subject. I enjoy both theory and programming equally. Theory lets me dive into specialised processes that are detailed and interesting, while programming gives me the practical side — problem solving, logic, and mathematics instead of memorising blindly. I like that Computer Science balances memorisation with creative problem solving.
Meet Thao Vy
Hi guys I’m Vy and I’m here if u guys wanna chat or asking questions about computer science like I often did with my friends :) It’s not a scary subject I promise.
