Dear Families
It was my great pleasure to attend the IGCSE presentation on Thursday. A wonderful evening of celebration and congratulations to all our wonderful students.

Last weekend I attended the annual FOBISIA leadership conference in Malaysia. Over 250 leaders from across Asia joined to share in the very best practice across British schools in our region.

Last weekend an intrepid group of secondary students completed their Duke of Edinburgh training weekend. A huge congratulations to all the students who were involved and an enormous thank you to the staff who supported the students on this incredible adventure.

A big thank you to everyone who completed the parent satisfaction survey. We will now take some time to review the results and put together actions to celebrate what we are doing well and what we can improve on further over the coming year.
We have had an incredible response to the Christmas Fair with hundreds of tickets already issued. Please register asap for your tickets to avoid disappointment. We look forward to seeing you there.

I wish you all a very relaxing weekend ahead.

In EYFS, the children enjoyed celebrating World Children’s Day with a Teddy Bear themed stay and play session.

Year 1 children have been learning about different settings and how to describe them using adjectives. They have been practising adding words like dark, spooky, and rainy to make their setting descriptions more interesting and detailed.

This week, the children in Year 2 created their own hand muscle models using straws, card, and string as part of our Superhumans topic. They explored how the muscles in our hands work by building a moving model that showed how fingers bend and stretch.
Next week, the children will use this experience to write clear instructions explaining how their hand model works and how to make one.

The children engaged in fascinating activities to learn more about Children's Rights.

Year 4 enjoyed a lively morning taking part in a variety of team games. Each activity brought plenty of laughter and enthusiasm, helping the pupils strengthen their friendships and create memorable shared moments. This was one of the special activities organised to mark World Children’s Day.

Year 5’s assembly was an exciting journey through space, where students explored bright planets, endless skies, and cosmic mysteries. Each child shone in their own way — confidently performing, sharing knowledge, and showcasing talents through highlights such as exploring the Astronomy Park, creating Solar System models in STEAM, investigating the Earth–Moon–Sun system, making space-themed scented wax, and learning about famous astronauts. The assembly inspired curiosity and a love for space science in every student, leaving unforgettable brilliant moments.

Year 6 worked together to complete a festive escape room challenge, solving clues and cooperating to “free Santa” from the storage room.

On Friday 21st November, 19 students left for their Duke of Edinburgh Award practice expedition to Mai Chau. Over the three days, students put into practice some of the skills that they have started to develop such as campcraft, cooking and navigation. Students had to endure the physical challenge of hiking while carrying all of the equipment required to survive the 3 day challenge. The weather was kind to all with warm sunshine and cool evening temperatures perfect for camping. The expedition is both a team challenge and a personal challenge for students. Students had an opportunity to ask questions, learn from instructors to help them prepare for the assessment expedition where they will be required to demonstrate all the skills without assistance. The assessment will take place in Sapa in January and will add to the challenge students face.
This practice expedition forms one section of the students' internationally recognised award, where students also have to volunteer, learn a new skill, and take part in a physical activity over a period of months.
Congratulations to all the students who took part in the first steps of their expedition section. Thank you to the staff and guides who supported our trip and an extended thank you to the BVIS staff, Phuong Duong Hong and Ba Leu who volunteered their time to enable the trip to run, Nguyen Thanh Thuy for the administrative support and Paul Ogden for his assistance in the DoE ECA.

BVIS is one of only four schools in Hanoi offering this program which allows students to learn and develop additional skills to support their future university and job applications.
The U15 squad departed this morning to compete in the FOBISIA Games in Thailand. They will take part in a 3 day competition involving Athletics, Swimming, Football and Basketball. The squad has been working hard during their mid week practices and there is a buzz of excitement and anticipation amongst our Dragons! Whilst many of these athletes partricipate in our local HAC league this competition gives these students an opportunity to compete against students from across South East Asia and interact with different people and cultures that share a common passion for sport.
We look forward to their updates and wish them all luck over the coming days!
Go Dragons!

Well done to our amazing LAMDA students who achieved 100% distinction in their recent speech and drama exams. They have been working hard since April preparing their monologues and revising their theory and in their first ever exam, all nine students achieved the highest possible grade!
The following students achieved exceptional results with over 85%:

A huge congratulations to all students involved... we cannot wait to see your final performances for your next grade!
This week, 8B developed their teamwork and presentation skills, along with their mathematical knowledge of Fractions by teaching to their peers. Each team created their teaching resources, their practice questions and answers, and confidently moved around the room helping students as they worked. Guided feedback was given between teams and they evaluated their own skills too. An eye-opening experience into the life of a teacher!

Year 10 students are currently engaged in Unit 3, focusing on hardware. They are participating in a variety of activities designed to enhance their understanding. Their efforts are building a strong foundation of theoretical knowledge in this area.

Learning to slow down and reset the body and mind with a slow Yin Yoga practice for their Monday ECA. We started the session learning a breathing technique that can calm the mind and help to unwind in the evenings. Working with the breath, the asanas in yin yoga use gravity to stretch out areas that can hold so much tension through the day. A relaxing way to finish the day.
