APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

To apply to the MET, you’ll need to prepare a variety of documents, your child’s academic records, and additional documents required by the Panamanian Ministry of Education. Upon applying, we’ll begin reviewing your application and schedule a family interview and admissions assessment.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What’s your school calendar and day?
    School usually starts mid-August of each year and ends in mid-June. Currently, the school day begins at 8:00 am and ends at 3:00 pm. You can keep track of all the key dates at the MET via our school calendar.
  • Do you admit students throughout the year?
    Yes, as an international school, we’re pleased to offer rolling admissions, which means we enroll students throughout the academic year. Our teachers are used to welcoming and settling students in at short notice. We offer a full on-boarding service to allow students to easily integrate into their relevant year group, regardless of the time of the year. 
  • How many nationalities do you currently have at the MET? What’s the approximate percentage of local and international students?
    We currently have 45 different nationalities at the MET. 

    Approximately 38% of the student population holds Panamanian nationality and 62% holds other nationalities.
  • How do I start the admissions process at the MET?
    The first step would be to complete our inquiry form, and we’ll be in touch as soon as possible. For our step-by-step admissions guide, please visit our website here.
  • Can I visit your school?
    Yes, we encourage families to visit our school. Parents are welcome to contact our Admissions Team (admissions@themetropolitanschool.com) to schedule an appointment. 
  • How do I validate international transcripts for admission to the MET?
    The Panamanian Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) — the legal entity that oversees academic institutions in Panama — requires all students entering 2nd through 12th grade who are transferring from a school abroad to go through a validating process. This procedure is a requirement that parents must complete to officially enroll their child into the correct grade level. 

    Transcripts issued outside of Panama must be apostilled in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or in an embassy of the country that issued the transcripts, which will later be validated through MEDUCA.
