AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

• Dance

  • SlideRoom media upload
    • One 2 minute solo - ballet, modern, jazz, or contemporary
  • Live audition/interview (by invitation) 
    • One 2 minute solo - ballet, modern, jazz, or contemporary (must provide own musical accompaniment on a mobile device)

    • Perform a ballet combination, progressions across the floor, and a jazz combination.

  Additional Audition Guidance: Our goal is to view your technical and performance skills during both the pre-screen and on-campus auditions.  As such, for both pre-screen and on-campus auditions, please select the solo style that presents you in the best light.  Dancers will need to bring all dance shoes to the audition. Female dancers wear black leotards, with black leggings, hair in a bun.  Male dancers wear black jazz pants, white t-shirt.

• Media Arts

  • SlideRoom media upload

    • Film applicants must submit any two of the following samples.

      • A writing portfolio consisting of original work that best represents who you are as a writer. (Max 500 words) Work can be in a short story or screenplay format

      • A short film or video in any style, including live-action, experimental, documentary, or animation. This can also be in the form of a portfolio reel with multiple films. Limit length to max 5 minutes.

      • A storyboard of 10 to 15 still images or drawings of your making arranged in an order that you feel tells a story (combined into one pdf).

    • Photography: Photography applicants must submit a pdf or slideshow containing 10-20 original images placing only 1 image on each slide/page. Each slide/page must include a caption that explains the photographer's vision for the individual image, along with camera settings and the editing process.

  • Individually scheduled interview (by invitation)
• Instrumental Music

  • SlideRoom media upload 

    • Instrumentalists must submit two or three contrasting works* from the standard repertoire of their instrument. Composition applicants must include two or three original compositions.

      *Note for  Classical Percussionists: Please submit solo of choice on mallets AND Solo of choice on the snare drum.

  • Live audition (by invitation) 
    • Solos of choice same as above
    • Sight read
    • All major and minor scales in three octaves

  Additional Audition Guidance: Our goal is to view your technical and performance skills during both the round 1 video auditions and on-campus auditions. As such, for both video auditions and on-campus auditions, please select solo music that demonstrates the full extent of your abilities, so that you may present yourself in the best light. Accompaniment is preferred, but not required. Accompaniment may be live or digital.

• Vocal Music

    • Vocalists must sing two contrasting works, performed from memory, with live or pre-recorded accompaniment.
  • Live audition (by invitation) 
    • Solos same as above
    • Sight sing
    • Echo sing

  Additional Audition Guidance: Our goal is to view your technical and performance skills during both the round 1 video auditions and on-campus auditions. As such, for both video auditions and on-campus auditions, please select solo music that demonstrates the full extent of your abilities, so that you may present yourself in the best light. Accompaniment (live or prerecorded) is required for both round 1 and on-campus auditions.

• Theatre

    • Musical Theatre Focus
      • One monologue and one song from a published musical (internet monologues and original works will not be accepted).
    • Acting Focus
      • Two contrasting monologues from a published play.
  • Live audition (by invitation) 
    • Musical Theatre Focus
      • One monologue, one song from a published musical (must provide own musical accompaniment on a mobile device), cold reading, dance combination, and sight-singing.
    • Acting Focus
      • Two contrasting monologues, cold reading.

  Additional Audition Guidance: Monologues and songs should be selected from standard, published repertoire-original works are not accepted.  Please have a thorough understanding of the larger piece and the characters you are portraying, making sure you select pieces that are appropriate for your age and life experience. Avoid pieces that involve dialects and character voices. Our goal is to see you at your best, so select material that will present you in your best light.

• Visual Arts default title

  • SlideRoom media upload 
    • In 1-5 media uploads, share a portfolio that includes 15-20 items that demonstrate your skills, personality, and creativity. It may include brainstorms, initial sketches, or finished work. These could include 2D - drawing, painting, printmaking, 3D sculpture, digital art, mixed media, or animation. Your portfolio may be a combination of any of the following file types: .pdf, .jpeg, .mov, .gif. PDFs may have a maximum of 20 still “slides/pages” with no embedded links or videos. A single “slide/page” may have multiple images and text. (i.e., title, date, dimensions, materials, brief description). A maximum of 20 items will be reviewed by the selection committee.
  • Interview/drawing assessment (by invitation) 
    • 45-90 minutes drawing assessment
    • Interview and artwork review
