Dear Parents,
Last week was truly special for our children as we celebrated two meaningful events that brought joy, creativity, and community spirit to our campus.
Elderly Community Outreach Day On Monday, we welcomed our first visit of the year from the elderly community at the Sai Kung Community Centre, beautifully organised by Lu Laoshi. This heartwarming event brought together two generations in a morning filled with creativity and connection. Each elderly guest partnered with a child to create stunning nature crowns, decorated with leaves, sticks, and seeds. The collaboration was wonderful to witness—children and adults worked side by side, sharing stories and laughter as they crafted their crowns.
After the creative session, everyone gathered downstairs for a lively time of singing and dancing, led by Lu Laoshi. The atmosphere was full of warmth and joy, reminding us of the importance of community and the value of intergenerational relationships. This experience also allowed our children to apply skills from their Chinese, Literacy, and Art lessons in a real-life context, deepening their learning through meaningful engagement.
World Children’s Day Celebration On Thursday, we marked World Children’s Day with activities that highlighted children’s rights and wellbeing. Together, we transformed our Blue Heart into a bright Yellow Sun, symbolising our commitment to ensuring every child enjoys a safe and happy childhood. Parents and helpers joined us at drop-off to add their handprints to the sun, creating a collaborative artwork that reflects our shared promise to children.
In the afternoon, our children participated in an exciting STEAM House Challenge, led by our House Captains. Each House worked together to design and build a model of a Safe and Happy Home. The children amazed us with their thoughtful ideas—considering everything from warm bedrooms and healthy food to spaces for play and rest. Their teamwork and creativity were inspiring, and the final homes reflected a growing understanding of what children need to thrive and reinforced the importance of children’s rights.

These experiences not only celebrated important values but also connected learning to life, encouraging empathy, creativity, and collaboration across our community.
Warm regards,
Ruth Hanson
