The Fusion Theatre came alive on November 10 as secondary students and teachers gathered to celebrate World Science Day for Peace and Development, a UNESCO initiative that highlights the importance of science in shaping a peaceful and sustainable world. This year’s theme, “Trust, Transformation, and Tomorrow: The Science We Need for 2050,” set an inspiring tone for the celebration and encouraged students to think about how science shapes their future.

The program opened with thoughtful remarks before launching into the Sci-Wizard Quiz Bee, an interhouse competition filled with excitement, curiosity, and school spirit. Our energetic hosts, Pedro and Olivia, kept the momentum lively as they guided the audience through fast-paced, engaging challenges. Léman secondary students from Years 7 to 13 competed in three themed rounds—Caterpillar, Chrysalis, and Butterfly—each requiring teamwork, quick thinking, and strong scientific understanding, while the enthusiastic audience took part in the Pollinator Blitz, adding a fun and interactive moment to the event. After an intense contest,Blue Dragons House rose to victory and was crowned the2025 Sci-Wizard Quiz Bee Champion.

The success of the event was made possible through the dedication of the science teachers, the hosts, and the support of the DP ESS Year 12 and 13 students, who helped with scoring, logistics, and coordination throughout the morning.

At lunchtime, the celebration continued with interactive science booths around the quad, where students explored hands-on demonstrations and experiments that brought scientific concepts to life. These experiences strengthened learners’ confidence, nurtured their curiosity, and highlighted science as an active, collaborative, and relevant part of everyday life.

In the spirit of World Science Day, this special day reminded us that science is not only about answers, but about curiosity, courage, and the shared determination to build a better, more thoughtful tomorrow.
